When Sharon was just 3, her grandmother died prematurely of a stroke. Although Sharon never got to know her grandmother, she hopes that the work she does today may help other children enjoy more and more years with their grandparents.

Sharon is a physician and leads a team at Bristol-Myers Squibb that directs the global medical development of new medicines for the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular, metabolic, virology and neurosciences diseases. “Our mission is to help patients prevail over serious diseases,” she says. “It’s a simple mission, but a powerful one. It’s what makes me focus on the work that I do, because I want to make a difference in people’s lives.”
